Woman's Day!!

I've been writing for many years, in a variety of genres, but haven't experienced a thrill quite like this -- my recent release, The Mom's Guide to Earning and Saving Thousands on the Internet (McGraw Hill, ISBN 0071457763) will be featured in an upcoming article in the April edition of Woman's Day magazine!

Not only that, but they've opted to quote me too- cool, huh?

I've been a long time fan of Woman's Day magazine, a subscriber, and even participate in their online reader panel. To work with some of the writers and editors there has been a surreal experience, and I can only imagine how I'll feel when my April edition arrives...to flip the pages and find not only my name & advice, but my work of the heart along with a splendidly written article... all I can say is dreams do come true!

Keep writing, keep reading, and keep the faith!

Hugs,
Barb

Just Erotic, Justly Designed

Just Erotic Romance Reviews gives LeighEllwood.com four stars in their latest newsletter, writing in part:

Ms. Ellwood's website has undergone some minor change since I last visited. Knowing that an author takes the time and care to update this environment regularly is a positive indication that they're serious about their craft and want you to know that too. After all this is the "store front" advertising their wares. And this multi-published author seems to take pride in her home.

I do, indeed take pride in the home site, which I update myself, as well as the podcast, which I hope you enjoy.

Galley Slave

I think I mentioned that BUILDING PASSION is going to be republished by Awe-Struck. Even though it is not scheduled for release until June, there are several steps to go through beFore then.

Right now, I am going through the galleys. Now, with print books, we used to get a printout of the pages, the pages still all attached to each other. For a 75,000 word book, you would end up with about 400 pages, in very faint Courier that always had an impossible deadline to get back to the editor -- giving you something like two days to go through them.

A bit later, we started getting page proofs -- they looked like the page in the book -- and depending on the publisher, you might need to return only the pages you made corrections on.

Now with ebooks, you get the galley back by email, and you send your corrections by email. A much better method. For one thing, your arm doesn't got to sleep holding your manuscript in line at the Post Office.

But another advantage with ebooks is that even after the book comes out, if you find a mistake, you can have the editor correct it in subsequent copies. Considering my visual problems and my typing inaccuracy, and the fact that a degree in English really hasn't helped my spelling all that much, I love this technology!

New Release -- the LOVE Anthology

What would you do for LOVE? Would you risk your life to save another? Would you face all your fears and confront your past?

Whiskey Creek Press is pleased to announce the release of the LOVE Anthology, a beautiful collection of short stories and poems devoted to that heady feeling of love. The collection is available in both trade paperback and ebook form.

LOVE is an uncontrolled and potent emotion that can…

--Bind an aristocratic, shipwrecked man to the lonely, widowed woman who saves him from death’s clutches.
--Distract two cops from their duties in the search for a serial killer.
--Resurrect ghosts and an abandoned passion for two lovers.
--Save the life of one brave soldier and endanger that of another with a deep secret.
--Render a woman recovering from a car accident oblivious to the love of someone close and helpless to a vindictive attack.
--Inspire sensuous Petrarchan and Elizabethan sonnets.
--Bring a muse and an aspiring author together to write a bestseller and contemplate a bold and selfless sacrifice.
--Inspire a haunting ballad.
--Uncover the secret passages in an old house and reveal the love of a mysterious man.
--Set a headstrong young female to save a wayward stallion from a handsome cowboy.
--Make a boyfriend do whatever it takes to impress his new girl’s protective and overpowering family and friends.
--Allow a sister and a husband to bury someone they hold dear and possibly open the door to a painful past affair.

It can do this and so much more, because that is the power of LOVE.

Coffee Time Romance Reviews had this to say:

"…Along with the wonderfully sweet prose in this anthology, also comes beautiful poetry with three poems that have been beautifully interwoven in this collection. Ms. Marsha Briscoe contributes two of her best works to the book, along with a breathtaking ballad by Mr. Daniel Wilder. The masterfully written stories, combined with the amazing poetry, make this book a must for anyone who maintains a lifelong love affair with love. I was chained to the chair, waiting for what came next in this tearfully romantic book. All the contributors are masters of their trade and are to be commended for such a wonderful piece. Love is definitely a book to be purchased and read again and again."
