More "Members-Only" goodies at Sara Reinke's official Tiralainn forum!

I've uploaded a file, "Cast of Characters" to the Files section of the Tiralainn forum, and invite you to come and check it out. It offers you an exclusive introduction to some of the friends and foes (including portrait sketches, when available) you'll meet in BOOK OF DAYS, my epic fantasy coming this fall in electronic format from Dragon Tooth Fantasy E-books.

The addition of this file is part of my forum-members-only campaign to promote BOOK OF DAYS. Like the director's cut version of a DVD movie, these special bonuses will give you more insight into the story of -- and behind -- BOOK OF DAYS, and the world of Tiralainn.

Joining the Tiralainn forum is easy. Visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tiralainn/ and click on "Join This Group."

And, as always, you're invited to my website at www.tiralainn.com, where you'll find excerpts from BOOK OF DAYS, along with my other upcoming releases, plus my online journal, writing tips for authors of any genre and more.

The password queen

Here's queen of the passwords finally back from the isolation cell. No matter what I did, or didn't do, Blogger would not agree that my password was right. This is my fourth change. Sigh. So what's new with Jane Toombs? My thriller High Risk from Champagne Books is doing well on Fictionwise. My novella, "The Tuquoise Mask" in Tales From The Treasure Trove I Anthology from Whiskey Creek Press comes out in September. And I'm off to Reno next week for the Romance Writers Of America annual conference. There are about 8000 members now, but only about 2500 will be at the conference. Since I used to live 30 miles from Reno I'll be looking up friends as well. My Viking and I now live on the south shore of Lake Superior in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. Beautiful--and colder than you know what in the winter. So we defect to Lakeland, FL for a few of the winter months. The third member of our household is Kinko, our calico cat, who is an outdoor/indoor cat--often as many as ten or so times a day. We call her the Mighty Hunter since she averages about three mice a week. She's never caught a bird, which makes us, though not her, happy. Feel free to respond, ask question, tell mewhat you're up to--whatever. Jane

Grand prize announced for BOOK OF DAYS release contest!

I'm pleased to announce that I've secured a grand prize to celebrate the official release of BOOK OF DAYS in electronic format later this year. It's an exquisite bronze brooch (viewed on the Tiralainn forum's homepage: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tiralainn/), generously made available by arrangement with The Crafty Celts, a leading online retailer of fine, handmade Celtic jewelry.

This lovely design served as the inspiration for a brooch owned by the character, Trejaeran in BOOK OF DAYS. The owl was held sacred in ancient Greece, and was associated with the goddess Athena. From this Greek tradition comes the owl's association with wisdom. In BOOK OF DAYS, the Golden Queen Orlaithe also uses the owl as a symbol of wisdom, strength and courage, emblazening them on her armor and helmet.

Contest details will be announced at the official Tiralainn forum closer to the release date for BOOK OF DAYS. Join the forum today, and you’re automatically in the drawing for this magnificent piece, with a retail value of $35. If you’re already a member, you’re already entered to win. If you’re not a member, joining is easy! Visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tiralainn/ and click on “Join This Group.”

The Crafty Celts are Danny and Sherry Hansen, two extraordinary artists who supply historically correct jewelry for the Society for Creative Anachronism and other historical reenactors, adorn the merry revelers at Renaissance festivals, accentuate the costumes of the fans at fantasy conventions, and even tempt the penny-wise Scots at Highland games. They also make their beautiful jewelry, cloak clasps, bracelets, silverware, belts, buckles, stained glass, hair adornments and more available for purchase through their website: http://www.craftycelts.com.

In the Pink!

They loved us so much at The Pink Banana Boutique, they want us to "come" back. In November, though, we're making it an all-out attack on the store, with more Phaze authors and more books to sell, and free stuff to give away, and hopefully more readers and shoppers. Stay tuned to the Flowers and Hearts blog for more details.

I can't wait. I'm hoping Dare Me will be in paperback by then (a gal can dream), and I'll still have Truth or Dare and Voyeur, plus The Healing, Muse, and Midnight Treasures and Sinfiul Sundaes to sell.

Studio musician Cal Briscoe has it bad for his best friend's girl, and when Brady Garriston announces his engagement, Cal realizes he will never have a chance with the lovely and exciting Ellie Shaw. Losing interest in his work and discouraged with his love life, he decides to leave the city behind...and hopefully his feelings for Ellie. He accepts Brady's offer of use of the Garriston/Shaw home in Dareville, and is shocked to discover one amenity...Ellie's friend Sue Carmichael. Seems Ellie neglected to mention that she had allowed Sue to stay there, too!

Cal and Sue are the Odd Couple of Dareville, dancing on each other's nerves as they try to make the best of the situation. But how long will it be before Sue and Cal kill each other...or wind up in bed?
